“You are what you repeatedly do, so you excellence is not an act but a habit” -Will Durant
It’s no secret that in order to get good at something you must practice it. The more you practice the better you become. As the quote above suggests, in order to be great at something you must make it a habit and practice it everyday.
Success is no different. When a company is looking to promote an employee, they typically look at their full body of work with that company. If they show that they can consistently achieve the results the company is looking for, then that makes them a great candidate for promotion.
There are a few things that you need in place in order to be consistent with anything.
#1: You must like what you are doing
It is hard to be consistent with accomplishing a task if you don’t like the task. Sooner or later you will lose motivation and drive and fall short. The things that you do everyday you must enjoy so that you can stick with them and make them habit.
#2: You must have a why
Why are you so driven to achieve this particular routine? What is the benefit of doing this thing consistently? You must be able to answer these questions in order to find your why. Once you’ve established why you have a desire to make this a habit, it will be easier to stick with your goals.

#3: Give it 110%
Whatever you decide to do consistently, make sure you give it your 110%. There is no sense in making something a habit if you are going to half-ass it. From the words of Red Forman go “Don’t half-ass everything, whole-ass one thing.”
#4: Stay motivated
Consistency is not achievable unless you stay motivated. This ties into finding your why, because without a why, you motivation will suffer. Constantly remind yourself of your why and you will stay motivated to achieve your goals.

#5: Practice consistency
Not everyone can stay motivated to do something all the time. Maybe you skip a day or lose sight of your why for a while. As we know, practice makes perfect. You are not only practicing your task but you are also practicing the art of consistency. The more you realize you are straying away from your goal, the more you can come back to it and keep the consistency going.
#6: Don’t let distractions get the best of you
Everything from the TV to the desire to surf Pinterest can keep your attention anywhere but where it should be. Consistency’s required in getting any task accomplished and it’s important to be consistently not distracted. Designate certain time slots for certain tasks.
#7: Imagine reaching your goals
They say it takes 10,000 hours to become good at something. Imagine what it would be like to complete 10,000 hours of your task. What have you learned in the process? How do you feel becoming an expert at this thing? How will others see you? Could you teach it?
When you can feel success, it becomes easier to be successful. Consistency is a habit that when developed can bring about large rewards.
Consistency is staying power
Having consistency brings you value because it is proof that you can execute and achieve success. It will allow people to place more trust in you that you will get things done when you have a history to show them. Being consistent is a valuable skill that can set you apart from the rest.
